VISIT TO CUEPACS

CUEPACS STANDS FOR CONGRESS OF UNIONS OF EMPLOYEES IN THE PUBLIC AND CIVIL SERVICES (MALAYSIA)


Enactment of Trade Unions was introduced in 1940 but no union established until and after the war in which workers organized under a union. They are arranged According to the status of the department or Craftsmanship. Not long after for hire realized that there are many unions that double / overlap and have the same fields and Functions that are not easy to struggle with. In 1948, some of the leaders of the trade unions of public sector have taken the first step to establish a national body of Staff Council, Government Services (Government Services Staff Council) representing 40 Public Sector Unions body. The main goal of the council was established to promote the Cooperation between the unions, without INVOLVING themselves in the affairs of the administration of the autonomous individual unions concerned, and in order to promote the Interests and welfare of Employees earning months with members from joining unions.

Standing Staff Government services have been approved at a conference sponsor on 3 April 1949 and is based in No. 1362, KK Road (now Jalan Padang Youth), Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

The council comprises of eight unions and when dissolved to make way for the establishment of 48 union Cuepacs join him. The Council has played an important role in the affairs and welfare of the public sector has also contributed to the success of the National Whitley Council (National Whitley Council).

  • CUEPACS maintain as one of the best and capable of championing the interests of the public sector to effectively and continuously make CUEPACS as the primary source matters workers and experienced leaders in policy leadership (k-leadership).
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE CUEPACS
  • Do anything necessary to promote the interests or for the perfection of the work of all or any of its affiliated unions. 
  • Protect the interests of trade unions and their members combined.
  • Working to improve working conditions for example recruitment, working hours, promotion, discipline, safety positions, salaries and retirement benefits of members of trade unions combined.
  • Organize employee relations / employer during the investigation of the relationship between the Government and any member of the Union members.
  • Trying to set up the machinery to be agreed between the employers for the purpose of negotiating with Cuepacs and discuss all matters of trade unions members and members.
  • Provide benefits for members of the trade union members as shall be decided by Congress Convention.
  • Trying to help (financially or otherwise) all or any of the members of the union and its members.
  •  Assist any union member or any of its members, either financial or otherwise to acquire any legal advice subject to the supply-supply in Kesatuaan Law Unions force.
  •  Promote the importance of law unions or members of particular unions in general.
  •  Exercise, if decided by Congress Convention, works compose, print, publish and distribute any newspaper, magazine, wrap or other printed literature to advance the purposes Cuepacs or promote the interests of union members.
  • Promote material welfare, social and educational union members in any lawful manner deemed fit by the Convention Congress or the Congress of the Council.
  •  Generally do all such acts and efforts needed to advance the purposes of the above in accordance with the decisions made by Congress in the Triennial Convention or Special Convention

We have visit to cuepacs (congress of unions of employees in the public and civil services) for group assignment from our lecturer Ms. Priya for Industrial Relation subject. We need to make an interview to CUEPACS regarding with our topic in assignment. We already going to CUEPACS and we are very happy because we get chance to interview Setiausaha Agung CUEPACS, Mrs. Lok Yim Pheng. Thanks to Mrs. Lok Yim Pheng who gives us the important knowledge about the CUEPACSThe knowledge that we gain at there we can used in the future if we already working.

VISIT TO WISMA HRDF

On 19th August 2014 our course have a visit to Wisma HRDF at Jalan Beringin, Damansara Heights. All HRM students are attended to the visit with our lecturer Ms. Vanisa and Mr. Rajamohan. The visit is to give us some important information in Human Resource Department. The information that we gained in that visit we can use in the future when we all start working.

ABOUT HRDF

The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) is administered by Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB), an Agency under the Ministry of Human Resources, via the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad Act, 2001. In fulfilling the nation's aspiration to attain the status of developed country by the year 2020, the HRDF was established in 1993 with the aim of developing quality human capital and world-class workforce in order to achieve a high income economy based on knowledge and innovation.

Its vision is to be the driving force in training and development of the workforce while its mission is to enhance workforce knowledge, skills and capabilities through effective management of its fund. The objective of the HRDF is to encourage employers covered under the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad Act, 2001 to retrain and upgrade the skills of their employees, apprentices and trainees in line with their business needs and the development strategy of the country.

The HRDF spearheads the up-skilling of Malaysian workforce by allowing employers to receive financial assistance up to 100% to cover the training cost incurred. Employees with no formal education but have obtained the relevant knowledge, experience and expertise in the workplace will also be certified based on their competency levels (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia - SKM, Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia - DKM or Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia - DLKM) under the Recognition of Prior Learning Scheme. Apart from the initial collaboration with the Department of Skills Development (DSD) under the Ministry of Human Resources, HRDF had expanded further by appointing two (3) more additional certification bodies which are the Federal University from Australia, Institute of Supply Chain Management and The Great Britain College Consortium to conduct RPL Scheme.

We are very happy during this visit, many things that we learn and get from this visit. HRDF management give us good cooperation, they are also give us full support to be as a good HR and being success for the future. Thanks to Encik Zawawie and Puan Norazita who gives us some briefing and also all people those work in the organization because very friendly with us. Thanks also because provide us lunch after the briefing. VISIT TO BURSA MALAYSIA

On 12th August 2014, we have go to Visit to Bursa Malaysia with HRM students attended with two of our lecturer Sir Rajamohan and Ms Vanisa. They give us some briefing about Bursa Malaysia. Bursa Malaysia is one of the largest bourses in Asia. We operate and regulated a fully integrated exchanged offering a comprehensive range of exchange related faciliting including listing, trading, clearing, settlement and depository services. 

ABOUT BURSA MALAYSIA

Bursa Malaysia  previously known as Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE, Bursa Saham Kuala Lumpur in Malay) dates back to when the Singapore Stockbrokers' Association was set up as a formal organisation dealing in securities in Malaya. The first formal securities business organisation in Malaysia was the Singapore Stockbrokers' Association, established in 1930. It was re-registered as the Malayan Stockbrokers' Association in 1937. The Malayan Stock Exchange was established in 1960 and the public trading of shares commenced. The board system had trading rooms in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, linked by direct telephone lines.

VISIT TO ISTANA BUDAYA

We have a visit to Istana Budaya with our lecturer Sir Rajamohan. All HRM 1 student are attend to that visit. 

HISTORY OF ISTANA BUDAYA

The history of Istana Budaya was started in 1964 when a proposal to form the National Cultural Centre was submitted by then Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Ministry of Cultural and Social Welfare.

Istana Budaya was mooted during National Cultural Congress in 1971 as a Malaysian art discourse. Its establishment was advanced by the establishment of National Cultural Group (KBN) in 1972 under jurisdiction of Ministry of Cultural, Youth and Sports. In 1973, KBN were moving from Jalan Ampang to National Culture Complex at Jalan Tun Ismail that focuses its activities professionally in traditional dance and music.

Istana Budaya was initially build in 1995 with construction cost of RM210 million with an area of 5.44 hectare with floor area of 21,000 per square meter. Istana Budaya can be proud of as first theatre in Asia that has sophisticated stage mechanism for theatre performance.

The design of this building was based on Malay culture. Istana Budaya is situated nearby Tasik Titiwangsa along Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur. Its construction was completed in 1998. The cabinet has approved the abolishment of National Theatre (Panggung Negara) to ISTANA BUDAYA officially in 2000.

We are enjoy with our visit even we do not have any chance to view any theater but we have chance to view the layout and design of Istana Budaya. People at that place is very nice to us and treat us very well. It was very enjoying visit because we can learn about the Istana Budaya Building.

VISIT TO MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCES

The Ministry of Human Resources, is a federal government ministry that is responsible for determining the workforce policies and direction of the labor force in line with Malaysia's commitment towards the United Nations'.

VISIT TO SSM

We have a visit to SSM (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia) with our lecturer Ms Asha, Mr Rajamohan and Ms Vanisa. All HRM 1, 2 and 3 attend to that visit. They give us some briefing about SSM, The main activity of SSM is to serve as an agency to incorporate companies and register businesses as well as to provide company and business information to the public. As the leading authority for the improvement of corporate governance, SSM fulfils its function to ensure compliance with business registration and corporate legislation through comprehensive enforcement and monitoring activities so as to sustain positive developments in the corporate and business sectors of the Nation. This division is responsible for establishing a structured and effective companies and businesses registration process in addition to handling registration matters, in line with the provisions of the Acts and guidelines it administrates. Concurrently, this division also plays a role in ensuring that the updating of corporate information is done accurately and according to the prescribed Client Service Charter.

ABOUT SSM

The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) is a statutory body formed as a result of a merger between the Registrar of Companies (ROC) and the Registrar of Businesses (ROB) in Malaysia which regulates companies and businesses. SSM came into operation on 16 April 2002.

The main activity of SSM is to serve as an agency to incorporate companies and register businesses as well as to provide company and business information to the public. As the leading authority for the improvement of corporate governance, SSM fulfils its function to ensure compliance with business registration and corporate legislation through comprehensive enforcement and monitoring activities so as to sustain positive developments in the corporate and business sectors of the Nation.

SSM is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the following legislation:

• Companies Act 1965 (Act 125)
• Registration of Businesses Act 1956 (Act 197)
• Trust Companies Act 1949 (Act 100)
• Kootu Funds (Prohibition) Act 1971 (Act 28)

The knowledge that we gain at there we can used in the future if we already working. I hope we can success in the future and working together as a colleagues. The purpose of the visit is to ensure the students understand how the people to start their business and open the company. We also learn how the step to register the business at SSM and understand the differentiate between ROB and ROC, it is important to us to know that knowledge if we plan to open business or company.
