VISIT TO WISMA HRDF

On 19th August 2014 our course have a visit to Wisma HRDF at Jalan Beringin, Damansara Heights. All HRM students are attended to the visit with our lecturer Ms. Vanisa and Mr. Rajamohan. The visit is to give us some important information in Human Resource Department. The information that we gained in that visit we can use in the future when we all start working.

ABOUT HRDF

The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) is administered by Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB), an Agency under the Ministry of Human Resources, via the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad Act, 2001. In fulfilling the nation's aspiration to attain the status of developed country by the year 2020, the HRDF was established in 1993 with the aim of developing quality human capital and world-class workforce in order to achieve a high income economy based on knowledge and innovation.

Its vision is to be the driving force in training and development of the workforce while its mission is to enhance workforce knowledge, skills and capabilities through effective management of its fund. The objective of the HRDF is to encourage employers covered under the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad Act, 2001 to retrain and upgrade the skills of their employees, apprentices and trainees in line with their business needs and the development strategy of the country.

The HRDF spearheads the up-skilling of Malaysian workforce by allowing employers to receive financial assistance up to 100% to cover the training cost incurred. Employees with no formal education but have obtained the relevant knowledge, experience and expertise in the workplace will also be certified based on their competency levels (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia - SKM, Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia - DKM or Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia - DLKM) under the Recognition of Prior Learning Scheme. Apart from the initial collaboration with the Department of Skills Development (DSD) under the Ministry of Human Resources, HRDF had expanded further by appointing two (3) more additional certification bodies which are the Federal University from Australia, Institute of Supply Chain Management and The Great Britain College Consortium to conduct RPL Scheme.

COMMITMENT

HRDF is committed to:
  • Create a highly competent, well-trained, knowledgeable and skilled workforce by equipping the current and future workforce with the latest and specific skills through retraining, up-skilling, reskilling and cross-skilling programmes
  • Enhance the human resources capabilities of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
  • Increase Malaysia's productivity and efficiency in strengthening the country's competitiveness in the global market

FUNCTIONS
  • To assess and determine the types and extent of employees', apprentices' and trainees' training and retraining in keeping pace with the human resources needs of industries
  • To promote and stimulate manpower training
  • To determine the terms and conditions under which any financial assistance or other benefits are to be given

ABOUT BURSA MALAYSIA

Bursa Malaysia  previously known as Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE, Bursa Saham Kuala Lumpur in Malay) dates back to when the Singapore Stockbrokers' Association was set up as a formal organisation dealing in securities in Malaya. The first formal securities business organisation in Malaysia was the Singapore Stockbrokers' Association, established in 1930. It was re-registered as the Malayan Stockbrokers' Association in 1937. The Malayan Stock Exchange was established in 1960 and the public trading of shares commenced. The board system had trading rooms in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, linked by direct telephone lines.
